When I was about 13 years old, on occasion I would go with my father to his place of employment named Crown Discount Store, which was the 1968 equivalent of the Target stores today.

My Dad managed the jewelry department, and right next door was the photo department.  I was allowed to visit the camera department because it was close enough to where my father could keep an eye on me.

For about 8 months, I drove the photo department manager crazy asking question upon question about cameras, lights, light meters, etc.  To my surprise on my 14th birthday, there was a brand new 35mm camera!

The first year was experimental, but by the time I was in the 8th grade, I was taking photos for the school paper, and for the many music events that went on at the school on and off campus.

This continued on through some of my high school years as well.  By the time I was 22 years old, I was asked to join forces with a local photographer who had a business called "The Picture Boutique."  This setting was one that men or women could have their hair styled and have their portraits or glamour photos taken.  I worked with my partner Richard for 3 years until he unexpectedly passed away.

At age 25, I was studying about medium format cameras, and over the next year worked with a graduate of Brook's Institute of Photography, creating a business called Image Photography.  At this point I had a friend as well as a built in teacher.  Mark and I shot Glamour, Boudoir, Weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, and Portraits.  At the end of 4 years, Mark decided to get married and move out of town to work with his new father-in-law.

By this time I was almost 30, and another friend of mine in Santa Barbara who was a professional photographer had inspired me to continue my photographic skills.  After a short reprieve, I went on my own creating Keith Capsuto Photography, in which I am now able to work from my home where my studio is located, as well as go on location.

I am kept busy with doing Portraits and Headshots for upcoming actors and actresses, Glamour Portraits, Music related photography, and my newest addition of animal portraits.

As I learned to appreciate people, my decision was to give my clientele quality work, without having to pay a hefty price.  Now in the digital age, I am able to produce extremely good photographs in half the time of a normal photo session.
